Philodendron Sodiroi Scandal

I bought a philodendron sodiroi one year ago and was excited to see it turning variegated. However leaf after leaf, the plant weakened until the new leaves will not unfurl anymore. I cut the top portion off hoping new branch below will be healthy, but the "variegation" returned. Upon doing some research, I found hundreds others facing the same problem. Judging from the fact that we are experiencing this at the same time and spread out all over the world, I am deducing that this is tissue culture gone wrong (But I may be wrong). In this video I call to arms awareness (and temporary boycott) of the philodendron sodiroi until suppliers and sellers can ensure healthy plants. O Xanadu é um subarbusto com folhagem muito ornamental. Espécie nativa da Mata Atlântica, seu porte pode alcançar até 80cm de altura. Caule curto, com folhas verdes, coriáceas, com bordas recortadas o que criam uma bela textura na composição paisagística. Philodendron ‘Dean McDowell’ Vs Philodendron Pastazanum

History: Philodendron ‘Dean McDowell’ was created in 1988 by the avid aroider and hybridizer John Banta by crossing Philodendron gloriosum and P. pastazanum. It was named after his close friend who died of AIDS, which is all the more reason to get the name right. The hybrid is P.pastazanum dominant resulting in some confusion in the trade. Below are some characteristics to tell them apart: New Leaf Blade: 1) Philodendron ‘Dean McDowell’ a) New leaf blades emerge with a pink hue adaxial (front) side and prominently pinkish abaxial (back) side. b) Mid-vein and primary lateral veins are pinkish as well adaxially. 2) Philodendron pastazanum a) New leaf blades emerge with a golden green leaf blade adaxially and light green...
