Eye of the Devil - the awesome beautiful dreadful power of actress Sharon Tate is on full display within - as the malevolent puppet master in her role as Odile de Caray menacing Deborah Kerr at every turn. As it was her first major role in a motion picture she worked very hard for her taskmaster and mentor director J. Lee Thompson. When interviewed Thompson described Tate as tremendously exciting and possessing of star projection. No one would have believed that her remaining time with us would be all too short. Sharon Tates performance in Eye of the Devil is an amazing sight to behold. It is nothing like any of her subsequent films and it gave her the opportunity to demonstrate her abilities in the kind of film that may ultimately have been her true calling - the dark thriller. It is difficult to examine her acting in its sum total without noticing that her comfort effectiveness and screen presence were all completely in peak form here. Music is from the album As Far as Siam by Red Rider. The song Lunatic Fringe. Essentially a one-hit wonder band it nonetheless serves here in providing an effective background. The song inherently unrelated to Sharon Tate or the film Eye of the Devil is actually political serving as a warning cry against rising anti-Semitism at the time it was written. In spite of this there is no political or social meaning to be inferred from this video.,
