See below for synopsis As a gigging musician you know the importance of having reliable and high-quality monitoring. But as soon as you want to switch to wireless in ear monitoring it can be tough to choose the right one with so many options available. Thats why weve decided to put the Sennheiser XSW and the LD Systems U500 to the test. Both of these in-ear monitors are designed for the semi-professional musician. The LD Systems U500 IEM series is currently sold online for 400 the Sennheiser XSW IEM for 600 2023. What sound difference can you expect for 200? Synopsis: While there are some differences in terms of the included equipment and individual devices the difference in terms of the transmitted audio signal and frequency spectrum is not substantial. The Sennheiser XSW has a slightly stronger bass and sounds a little bit warmer and rounder in the bass-mid range while the LD Systems U500 slightly enhances the highs. Overall the two do not differ significantly as proves the RTA measurement with pink noise especially considering that the systems are typically used on loud stages with a corresponding amount of room sound and resonance where such differences are not noticeable due to external factors. Additionaly both products offer on board EQ settings which you could use to try and compensate the differences. Both products are high-quality and robustly manufactured on both the sender and receiver sides. The shiny metal on the U500 is a matter of personal preference as is the slightly rubberized feel of the U500 receiver housing which compared to the Sennheiser receivers usual hard plastic look looks a bit cheap in my personal opinion - but it is not! Both packages - LD Systems unlike Sennheiser delivers a hard plastic carrying case - include a power supply antenna batteries and a mounting kit for installation in a 19-inch rack only the Sennheiser includes a plate for connecting two XSW units together. Sennheiser delivers different power plug adaptors. The beltpack antenna of the LD Systems receiver is removable and thus also replacable if bent or broken! while Sennheisers antenna is fixed. Measurements with Soundcraft UI24R Open Sound Meter. Transmitter-receiver distance: 2m. No sponsorshipsproduct placements.
